Being Healthy Is A Journey

How I found my way to becoming passionate about acupuncture and Chinese medicine

My Mission To Help

I am a big believer in preventative care and self-care. How we take care of our body determines how our life unfolds — and I want to help as many people as I can to experience healthy aging, so they can live a life that is free of pain and diseases.

It is possible — but it requires self-awareness and the willingness to work toward a mindful lifestyle, along with seeking help from others. To accomplish this, making your wellbeing a priority is a necessity.

My History

Preventative care has been instilled in me since I was young. When preparing our food, my family cooked with herbs that were used for healing in Eastern medicine, and a respect for ancient Eastern health practices were emphasized by my parents.

As I got older, became a young adult and was on my own, I lost sight of this wisdom, but still valued caring for one’s physical and mental health. In my early 30s, I found myself in the health field as a massage therapist and felt this was a good path for me.

The Unexpected

As fate had it, however, I had a bad mountain bike accident that rendered me unable to continue, forcing me to evaluate my life’s path.

I went from extremely healthy with no issues, to being in pain all the time. Each time I gave a massage, I would need one to combat the pain. I began searching for answers, evaluating my skill sets, and questioning how I would support myself moving forward.

Finding My Calling

I eventually thought of my past, my family and what mattered to me most — natural health practices and treatments.

This led me to Chinese medicine and acupuncture. I had used acupuncture for my own health in the past — treating stress, severe allergies, and my physical pain — so I knew acupuncture worked even though I didn’t know much about it.

Since I’ve always been interested in health, and my family valued Chinese herbs, Chinese medicine and acupuncture felt right to me. In fact, even though I had just discovered it, I truly felt it was my calling. While studying Chinese medicine, all my childhood memories came flooding back to me, and when reflecting on it all, I feel truly grateful for my upbringing because it led me to my life’s passion.

It’s been a blessing, and I make sure I treasure it all with each patient I treat.
