Personalized Acupuncture Care in East Sacramento
The theory and practice of acupuncture originated in China over five thousand years ago as a method to promote health and help people heal from disease. At Karen Chan Acupuncture, this time-tested approach is used to support your body’s natural healing processes by stimulating specific points to regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and restore internal balance.
Acupuncture is a versatile therapy that can help with musculoskeletal pain and injury, emotional pain, stress and anxiety, digestive issues, fertility and hormone imbalances, low energy, insomnia, sleep disturbances, signs of aging, dental pain, arthritis, and more. Whether you’re navigating a chronic condition or simply seeking a deeper sense of well-being, acupuncture offers a gentle, personalized path toward feeling better in your body.
As a licensed acupuncturist, I combine my clinical training with lived experience and intuition to help get to the root of what you're dealing with. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. I take the time to understand what you're going through so I can offer the most thoughtful, personalized treatment plan possible.
What is Acupuncture?
Most people tolerate acupuncture very well and often find the experience deeply relaxing. The treatment involves the insertion of very thin needles into specific points on the body. You may feel a mild pinch or brief sensation with certain points, but any discomfort typically fades within seconds, and many feel nothing at all.
Once the needles are in place, you’ll rest comfortably on the table for about 20 minutes. In fact, many patients say they wish it lasted longer. Some even drift off to sleep.
If you're needle-shy, you're not alone. We also offer needle-free techniques that support healing in a gentle, effective way. Want to hear what the experience is really like? See how patients describe it in the testimonials on our homepage.

Supporting Therapies to Enhance Your Treatment
Acupuncture is just one of the many tools Karen uses to support your healing. To enhance its effects and address your specific concerns, complementary therapies may be thoughtfully integrated into your care plan.
Cupping Therapy uses gentle suction to stimulate circulation, release muscle tension, and support natural detoxification. It can be applied to the body or face, depending on your needs.
Dolphin Neurostim is a handheld device designed to reduce sympathetic stress and relieve soft tissue pain through targeted microcurrent stimulation.
During your first appointment, feel free to ask about these therapies and explore whether they align with your health goals and can help deepen the results of your treatment.
